Anti-virus

An anti-virus software is a computer program that identifies, neutralize and eliminate malicious softwares. An anti-virus usually does more than fight viruses, nowadays they're designed to combat worms, phishing attacks, trojan horses and other malware.

One important thing to note here is that some people think that a firewall does the job of an anti-virus software, these people are mistaken. A firewall will protect you from other people trying to gain access to your files.

Once an anti-virus software has detected an infection (virus), it usually does one of these 3 things:
  1. Attempt to repair the file by removing the virus
  2. Quanrantine the file, or
  3. Delete the infected file

Choosing an anti-virus ha to be done carefully. Some say that orignally, the company that builds anti-virus, is also building the viruses! Today, some of the companies ships their software with an spyware! So be sure to go with a trustworthy company such as Symantec, Norton anti-virus.

Norton is not just the biggest Internet security on the market, it's the fastest company to find remedies for new viruses, and has the biggest team working to keep your computer(s) safe!
